This grey Banarasi saree is woven in silk blend with gold zari across the body, a fine lattice of small buttas and a row of peacock medallions that repeat over the field. The grey base lets the gold work stand out in both soft daylight and lamplight, so it suits a family puja, a wedding function or an evening dinner.

The pallu carries a band of peacock panels framed by a wide zari border, with thin magenta stripes running through it. Pair it with the magenta unstitched blouse piece shown here, or with a plain gold or magenta blouse to pick up the pink edging. A cream or gold tone in jewellery suits the zari best.
